How to print from non KSA owned devices (BYOD)

Modified on Wed, 9 Oct at 11:43 AM

If you wish to print to school photocopiers from non-KSA devices please follow the guide below

Non KSA devices can be personal laptops bought in for lessons by Post 16 Students, or Laptops used by trainees from other schools (Teacheast)

Note:- You will need a Ken Stimpson IT Account to print via this system (@kenstimpson.org.uk) and can't be used for visitors without a school IT Account.

This guide will only allow you to send prints to the main photocopiers in Corridors and Department offices. You won't be able to print to desktop printers in IT Suites.

Instructions

  1. On the school website (https://www.kenstimpson.org.uk) click on the links for Staff or Students, depending upon your role in the school

  2. You will need to logon with your KSA (@kenstimpson.org.uk) details - If you don't have a KSA account you will be unable to proceed.

On the portal page, look for the "BYOD Printing" icons and pick the correct one for the device you are using.

For the rest of this guide, this will be for the "Windows" version, but the instructions are broadly the same for Mac or Chromebooks

  3. On the page that follows, click on the "Download and run Mobility Print" button

  4. This will download an ".msi" file - Run this and the below will appear - Click "Next" and then "Finish" when done

  5. Once this is installed, go back to the webpage and click on "Connect and get my printers"

  6. On the box that appears, click on "Open"

  7. This will then connect to the Schools printers. Then when going to print, you will see the two main FollowMe queues for the photocopiers around school

If you do not see these, restart your web browser/application & try again. If you still don't see them, rerun the instructions above.

  8. When printing to each of these printers for the first time, you will be asked to login.
Enter your Ken Stimpson Account details (KSA) & click on "Sign in and print"

  9. You will then see a pop up telling you that your print has been sent successfully & you can now go to a photocopier and release your job.

  10. That's it! You can now print normally.

The software should remember your login details for 60 or so days & we've found you sometimes need to login for your first two prints.

However, if you have any queries or need support please pop your device into IT (3L23) or email us on [email protected] & we'll be able to assist.
